Transcending Thai Surrealism; the art of Somphong Adulyasaraphan
Most people who see Somphong Adulyasarapan’s work consider him to be the Salvador Dali of Thailand. Somphong’s style of painting, the shapes, brush strokes and details of the lines and the choice of colours plus the way in which he presents his ideas are very similar, at least on a superficial level, to that of Salvador Dali. One of the most striking similarities is Somphong’s use of egg-shaped vignettes to convey multiple levels of meaning in his Art.
