Where do we come from?

The Exhibition Catalogue of “Where do we come from?” By Anand Panin. The artist talked about his art work. “Working for art which depends on travelling experiences neither records what we see, nor memorizes what we notice. Every time we see or hear, they are not only pictures or sounds, but also love, hatred, compassion, feelings, consideration, criticism, beauty, and ugliness. They all are a translation of brainwaves gained from pictures and sounds we experience.

Frederick Langbridge once said, “Two men look out through the same bars: One sees the mud, and one the stars.” What we see and what we hear are nothing; they all are our own thoughts.

An ancient Chinese poet wrote that one had to travel ten thousand li (a traditional Chinese unit of distance: 1 li equals a half kilometer.) and read ten thousand books, he then could draw bamboo leaves beautifully. Drawing beautiful bamboo leaves is not because the one practices until he becomes an accomplished artist, he has to feel all spirits of the nature.”

He was a student from the same batch as “Brother Wan” (Master Thawan Duchanee), Master Damrong Wong-Uparaj, and Master Charoon Boonsuan. All were from the last batch of students of Professor Silpa Bhirasri and they all are extraordinary artists.
